Because the survey asks questions about you, the results can tell us if some groups of Territorians are doing well and others not so well.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers from Charles Darwin University are conducting the survey. The researchers will keep all your answers in a secure place only they can access. No individual person can be identified by their answers or will be identified in the results of the survey. The researchers will share the results of the survey with all survey participants, the Territory Government, businesses and community organisations. The results will be published on the <strong><em>my Territory Connections<\/em><\/strong> website so that everyone can see the same information.<\/p>\n<p>If you are happy to do the survey, you will be asked to mark \u2018yes to participate in the survey\u2019 at the first question. This gives the researchers your consent to use your responses in the research. You must answer this question to start the survey. If you do not want to participate in the survey, answering &#8216;No\u2019 will exit you from the survey.<\/p>\n<p>If you feel uncomfortable sharing any information, you can decide not to answer that question and move to the next question. If you decide not to continue with the survey and exit, any answers you have completed will be saved and used in the research unless you decide you want them to be taken out. You can speak with the researchers about this by calling the Northern Institute on 8946 7468 or emailing <a href=\"mailto:myterritoryconnections@cdu.edu.au\">myterritoryconnections@cdu.edu.au<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If the survey questions cause you any distress, you can find information about organisations available to support you under the Resources and Publications tab on this website.<\/p>\n<p>If you choose to complete the survey, you can go into a draw to win some great prizes &#8211; one $500 voucher and two $100 vouchers. Entering is optional and you are asked to provide a name (full name or first name only) and phone or email so that the researchers can contact you. Our Territory Connections are the point of origin to construct the Social Capital Index.<\/p>\n<p><b>ATTACHMENT<\/b> to the Territory is a known factor in retaining local populations across different Territory regions, supporting local communities to grow. The measurement of attachment informs how social capital can be maintained when some populations are coming and going regularly, and other populations are staying. It recognises the importance of place for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Territorians, Australia\u2019s First Peoples, and is expressed through a sense of belonging to place, length of residence and intention to stay.<\/p>\n<p>Within Territory <b>NETWORKS<\/b> of family, friends and neighbours help to build individual and community resilience. The strength of these connections is measured through the practical, emotional, and financial support given and received, and the support provided through community services for people experiencing isolation. Connections to people with authority and status demonstrates the extent of people\u2019s vertical networks to positions of social, legal, political, and economic influence that underpin partnerships supporting increased community capacity and local development.<\/p>\n<p>Community and civic <b>PARTICIPATION<\/b> benefits everyone through people\u2019s cooperation and engagement with activities that maintain the broader functioning of society. This engagement provides opportunities to support the community through shared action and group associations. For the Territory, it is measured by the extent of participation in social and community groups, personal advocacy for issues or vulnerable people, and volunteerism.<\/p>\n<p>Community <b>COHESION<\/b> is created through the embrace of difference, trust, and shared values. These connections are the foundation of strong and resilient communities.<\/p>\n<p>Each person living in the Territory is part of a social network. You can think of them as the red dot at the centre of the logo. The three lines curving around the red dot show that each person is surrounded by family, friends and neighbours, and their community.<\/p>\n<p>The Territory environment stretches from the ochre of the Red Centre, through deserts and bush, to the greener tropics and rivers of the Top End, and finally to the blue coastal areas and islands.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section
